Some luck gets you home. Some luck gets you killed.
Grace Callahan came back to Briar Glen for one reason, to help save the town’s beloved St. Patrick’s Day parade, and then return to her carefully planned life in Atlanta.
But Briar Glen isn’t the quiet hometown she remembers.
When missing records, suspicious accidents, and a late-night fire point to something far darker hiding beneath the town’s charm, Grace finds herself pulled into an investigation she never intended to lead. The only person she can rely on is Ryan Pearce, the boy she once knew, now a steady, quietly protective distiller who sees more than she says.
As danger closes in, Grace and Ryan uncover a network of manipulation tied to a shuttered plant and a powerful woman determined to keep control at any cost. With the parade drawing closer and the threat turning personal, Grace must decide whether trusting Ryan is worth the risk, and whether she’s willing to stop running from the place that still feels like home.
Because in Briar Glen, luck can be deadly… and falling in love might be the riskiest choice of all.

I love many of Judith A. Barrett's books. A new one is always a treat. This new series introduced Briar Glen, a town with a dark secret. Grace Callahan, a project director in a tech company in Atlanta is visiting her granny, Nora. Grace needed a vacation and Nora was trying to clear out the attic. Grace knew she could help with that. Grace lived in Briar Glen until eighth grade when she moved to Atlanta with her mom. She has friends still in town. Grace gets caught up in the town's mystery when she is asked to temporarily serve as deputy mayor to be sure the upcoming St. Patrick’s day parade will go off without a hitch. Someone is sabotaging it. We are introduced to several more citizens of Briar Glen including Ryan Pearce. A romance develops between Grace and Ryan. They had been childhood frenemies. There's a murder or maybe two, a fire and a parade. Read this book. You will enjoy it.
